The Mancubus Clans
Massive, armored horrors that rain plasma fire upon the Slayer.
The term "Mancubus Clans" is not an official designation within UAC records or Hellish bureaucracy, but rather a colloquial classification used by soldiers and researchers to describe the pack behavior of Mancubi. These massive demons are heavy artillery units of Hell's legions, known for their immense durability and devastating plasma weaponry. While they do not operate under a formal political structure like the Maykr or Night Sentinels, they frequently congregate in groups during invasions, leading observers to refer to these cohorts as clans.

Lore & Background
Despite their grouping habits, there is no evidence of complex social organization among Mancubi beyond basic pack coordination. They answer to the broader hierarchy of Hell's overlords but lack individual leadership roles within their own ranks. This makes them predictable yet dangerous; they do not strategize, but they overwhelm through sheer mass and firepower. The Doom Slayer has encountered these cohorts across multiple dimensions, from Mars colonies to the depths of Argent D'Nur.
In Their Own Story
The air on Deimos tasted of sulfur and old blood as the Slayer rounded the corner of a ruined laboratory. Three Mancubi stood shoulder-to-shoulder, their bloated stomachs glowing with contained energy. They did not speak; they simply roared in unison, a sound like grinding gears. The first sphere erupted from the nearest beast's gut, melting the concrete floor where the Slayer had stood seconds before. He raised his shotgun, the metallic click echoing louder than the demons' growls.
Reader's Guide
Mancubi do not possess formal goals or hierarchy beyond the destruction of intruders and service to Hell's will. They are not led by named individuals but operate on instinctual pack aggression. Their relationship to the central conflict is that of a primary obstacle; they are often deployed in high numbers to test the Slayer's endurance. In combat, they function as stationary turrets with moderate mobility. There are no key members or leaders within this grouping. The term "Clan" refers strictly to their tendency to spawn and fight together rather than any cultural identity. Soldiers should target their lower legs to destabilize them before engaging the plasma cannon.
Did You Know?
- Mancubi were originally designed to be slower but more durable than Imps in early Doom development.
- Their name is derived from a Latin term meaning 'man-eater', fitting their role as heavy predators.
- In later games, they retain the ability to vomit plasma even after being heavily damaged.
